- Description
- It is a full-length male figure without feet but with the right leg shown as if stepping forward. He wears white trousers and shirt, a black tailcoat, and a yellow waistcoat, also a black bowtie. His left hand is in the pocket of the trousers and there is a flattened top hat under his left arm. His right hand is tucked inside the front of the coat but may be missing as a vague outline of fingers can be seen on the jacket. He has thick black hair,beard and black eyes.

- The figurehead is part of a collection assembled by Sydney Cumbers and known as 'The Long John Silver Collection'. The figurehead was found at Quayle in the Isle of Wight, and according to the magazine 'Neptunia' the figurehead is carved in teak, including the beard.
- Vessel history
- The ship was a wooden barque of 688 tons built in 1865 by J. Stranberg of Hernosand for A. Matterquist, also of Hernosand. It is believed to have been wrecked off Black Gang Chine, in the south of the Isle of Wight.
