This is a large fiddlehead with oval cartouche on the front around which is written in red "General Steam Navigation Company 1824". It is mostly painted in white with light blue decoration and is surrounded by green leaves, red berries and gold scrollwork. It has a pedestal which has been painted black.
H155 x W54 x D40 cms
The figurehead is part of a collection assembled by Sydney Cumbers and known as 'The Long John Silver Collection'.
It was a steamship.
