Vessel history
A wood, screw corvette, launched at Devonport in 1855. She was on the Pacific station under the command of Captain James Charles Prevost from 1856 to 1861 and from 1861 to 1865 on the South East Coast of America. A party of seamen and marines from the ship were involved in suppressing a labour dispute in the mines of British Columbia in 1857. Whilst on the China station in 1867, she took part in a punitive raid on the Nicobar Islands with HMS 'Wasp'. She was also involved in the Abyssinian Expedition the following year. After returning to the United Kingdom in 1870, she was broken up at Devonport in 1879.
