Vessel history
A wood screw frigate, 51 guns, launched in 1858 at Devonport Dockyard. From 1859 to 1869 she was on the Pacific Station. Her crew assisted in building the Race Rocks lighthouse off Vancouver Island in Canada during 1859-60. In 1868 her crew removed two statues from Easter Island, which are now in the collections of the British Museum. Between 1872-77 she made a voyage with the detached squadron to Bombay and back. She remained with the squadron until 1877. The vessel was broken up in 1884 at Charlton.
