Vessel history
A wood, screw corvette, launched in 1856 at Chatham, she was initially stationed in the Mediterranean then on the North America and West Indies station. She underwent extensive repairs at Chatham in 1862. On 4 June 1869 she struck a rock off Bolt Head near Salcombe. She was grounded on Salcombe bar until divers stopped the leak and then towed to Plymouth where she was repaired. From 1871 she was part of the Detached Squadron, and in 1872-74 was sent to the China Station. The ship was broken up in 1879 in Devonport.
