Object history
At an unknown date, this figurehead replaced the original design by Hellyers of Rotherhithe which showed a young Queen Victoria. The surviving figurehead was removed when the ship was broken up in Borrowstounness, Scotland.
Vessel history
HMS 'Active' was built in 1845 at Chatham Dockyard. This 5th rate, 36-gun vessel was in service until 1867.
