Housed in the Police Parade Room in Devonport, until presented to the NMM by the Admiralty in 1936.
Vessel history
Built in Pembroke Dockyard in 1857, HMS 'Gannet' was a 151ft Wooden Screw Sloop carrying 11, 32 pounder guns. She was mainly employed in hydrographic duties and during the period 1865 - 1867 carried out survey work around the Bay of Fundy and Labrador. Sold out of the Navy in 1876.
